End of Nyika

29/10

Last night’s farewell party was amazing. I made a huge mistake of washing my hair right before and now I smell like a bonfire myself, but it was totally worth it! Now I can smell my hair and imagine sitting by the fire all over again. I guess the party in me will never die, at least until I wash my hair again, hehe.

Vegan sausages were amazing and turned out to be a bit of a hit amongst my omnivorous friends. I must’ve had about four pieces of bread and two sausages myself as they were just soo yummy. We also had hot chips, fresh tomatoes, fried onions, pickled cucumbers and sweet chili sauce. I am literally drooling as I’m typing this. Gosh it was good. For dessert I smashed a whole packet of Marie’s cookies with strawberry jam (the only vegan sweets I could find and ended up loving). Aaand I may or may not have had about 3 glasses of Malawi gin and tonic, just because it felt too right. Am I going to be obese by the time I get back home?
We sang, we danced and practiced headstands (probably a bit of an OHS issue, but we’re all in one piece, so was a successful event one might say). Zebras were close to our camp, so we could hear them making noises throughout the night. A bushbuck also visited and looked at us as if we were a bit mad, but we did give him a run for his money.

Today’s weather has been a shocker. It has only rained once in the past month that I have been here, yet when it rains it really pours. Strong icy wind, dark clouds and heavy rain, Nyika has it all today. It sort of makes me want to get in the south quicker to escape the cold. Not long now, same time tomorrow I will be on my way to Mzuzu. Although I know that as soon as I arrive, I will be dying a little due to extreme heat. Can’t win!
